Former president Donald Trump receives one of the biggest wrist-slaps in presidential history. On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 majority that “official acts” of a president are not reprehensible in court. This ruling is a major victory for Trump, following his recent loss in NYC over his hush-money payments. As a result, Democrats are enraged, and Biden is doing damage control. Meanwhile, justices are still working out what of Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6 siege were “official acts.”
Following President Biden’s poor performance at the CNN debate last Thursday against former president Donald Trump, Democrats are questioning their resolve for Biden to remain the presumptive candidate for the Democratic Party. Yet, despite an unprecedented backlash and genuine concern about his age, Biden is committing to remain in office for a second term.
Vice President Kamala Harris is catching a lot of buzz on social media, particularly on X, formerly known as Twitter. A press conference is circulating from 2019 in which the vice president said,
“My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, ‘I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?’ (Laughs.) You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.” (Source)
Folks on X, namely left-leaning users, have been using memes to temper considerations of her nomination, similar to the historic memes done for President Biden. With Biden tanking in the polls and growing concerns for his health in the coming term, voters are worried about Kamala Harris as a viable alternative.
